Pinterest: Physical Education

I really enjoyed using Pinterest. Pinterest is a fun tool that you could lose yourself in really fast.  I would have a hard time making sure that I was always on task if I used it all of the time.  I think that I will use it, but I will have to watch myself to not waste a lot of time on there instead of looking for whatever it is that I originally went there to find.  There are so many ideas to choose from and it is nice to be able to search for any given topic and have all of these resources come together in one place.  I imagine that I will use Pinterest a lot for organizing my lesson ideas and to come up with different lesson.  As far as how my students could use Pinterest; I think that it would be a great way to help them organize their sources for a research paper or to find information regarding certain topic.

The Pinterest board that I created, was to organize ideas to incorporate dance into my PE curriculum.  This meets the requirements for Kindergarten Physical Education core standards

Utah Core Standard:
Strand 1
Students will achieve a level of competency in motor skills and movement patterns.
Skill development includes various locomotor and non-locomotor skills. Locomotor skills, which include walking, hopping, galloping, running, sliding, skipping, leaping, and jumping, are the foundation of movement. Non-locomotor skills using balance and weight transfer include curling, stretching, twisting, and bending. Competency progresses into manipulative skills such as catching, rope jumping, underhand and overhand throwing, dribbling, passing and receiving a ball with hands or feet.

Standard K.1.2
Perform locomotor skills in response to teacher-led creative dance.

EdTech Standard:

Standard 4
Use general purpose productivity tools and peripherals to support personal productivity, to remediate skill deficits, and to facilitate learning throughout the curriculum. (3)

ISTE Standard:

Knowledge Constructor
I critically select, evaluate, and synthesize digital resources into a collection that reflects my learning and builds my knowledge
